Behind the build
458 Italia
Ferrari revealed the 458 Italia in 2009 as the replacement for the F430. Its 4.5-litre V8 sat behind the driver and revved all the way to 9,000 rpm without any turbochargers, wrapped in a smooth, sharp body designed with Pininfarina. It was fast, but also easier to drive than many Ferraris before it, thanks to a quick-shifting dual-clutch gearbox. When the turbocharged 488 replaced it in 2015, many fans saw the 458 as the end of an era for naturally aspirated mid-engine Ferraris.
